Sauerkraut brings good luck
Speaking of that if you have been born and raised in Pennsylvania (Pennsylvania Dutch) you have probably heard of the tradition of eating sauerkraut on New Year’s day for good luck. I do it, and I love the dish, its definitely one of my favorites. The Great Lakes Kraut Company, makers of popular brands of the yummy stinky cabbage, Krrrrisp Kraut and Silver Floss, has released information about just that tradition. The company said it has up its production of the stuff to more than 130,000 tons of kraut for the New Year occasion. Happy New Year! We had our Silver Floss sauerkraut, purchased from Weis Markets, a PA company that sneaked into our part of MD. :)
